Subject: Trip Wrap Up
Hello All,
If you haven’t been to Midwest Clinic Video , you can see Sartartia perform three of our pieces. You will want to view three of the selections via video streaming! The cd quality is even better! We heard an advance copy on the bus to the airport. Our performance at The Midwest Clinic was pretty amazing! The group received an immediate standing ovation after the concert, which does not always happen with a music educator audience.
This wonderful trip would not have taken place without the help of many people!
-
If you haven’t received copies of our spectacular Midwest Clinic Program booklet compiled by Leslie Wisch, we have extras in the orchestra room.
-
Our cellos and basses wouldn’t have arrived to and from Chicago in such good condition without the expert and diligent care of Wanda and Tim Quillen who drove the van to, from and around Chicago !! All the while fighting blizzards and traffic. Way to go Quillens!!
-
Our trip nurse and chaperone Christine Craft ran her own infirmary. At one point she had them lined up along the wall and was caring for them all. She was amazing in keeping our students functioning!!
-
Our chaperones did a wonderful job of assisting with not only with the musical aspects of tuning and fixing broken strings but they also doubled as superior stand in parents. We did not lose too many possessions on this trip and with the weather and the need to change in and out of heavy clothing, it could have been horrendous.
-
The parents and family members attending the trip were invaluable with their assistance in many ways. No challenge was too large or small for them. To mention a few things; Shirts were ironed and delivered to rooms! An important lunch was hand delivered to our students, tickets picked up, and interference run. We could not have functioned as smoothly without the fantastic parent and family support.
-
Our principal, Dr.Thurman was with us cheering us on every step- we are very fortunate to have such great support from our administration.
-
Our district administration Mr. Hindt, Dr. Milner, and Ms. Lucchesi we all there supporting us and assisting with keeping track of children.
Lastly, I want to tell the students how deeply pleased I was with your maturity in how you handled yourselves and helped one another. So many music educators have told me that they feel that this was the best middle school performance they have ever heard. You played with skill far beyond your years, both technically and musically. This morning I got a call from my old cello professor from University of Texas and word had already spread to Austin about our wonderful performance. We left the audience with something amazing to remember.
Rest up and have a super holiday.
